Inland Port Dillon

Industry needs infrastructure. Santee Cooper understands. The South Carolina Ports Authority saw a need for an inland port in Dillon near I-95, within an existing 3,400-acre industrial site and near additional affordable land that could be developed. Marlboro Electric Cooperative got involved and came to us with a specific need: a multi-million-dollar loan that would allow the necessary site development to get underway.

The Inland Port Dillon is expected to handle at least 45,000 containers a year, including refrigerated cargo. It represents a $58 million capital investment that will yield returns for decades for industries throughout the state and beyond, as well as for industries who locate here because of its capabilities. The Port is expected to open in Spring 2018 and, combined with the State Ports Authority’s other facilities along the coast and in Greer, will provide a geographically diverse logistical network.
